Ecomondo 2024: participation and experience of the ARB team

Ecomondo 2024, the largest edition ever, has just ended with +5% total attendance, 1,620 brands, 166,000 square metres of exhibition space.

All growing indicators for the 27th edition of the Italian Exhibition Group’s international green technologies event, which closed on 8 November at the Rimini Exhibition Centre.

A true international hub of sustainability; a meeting place for the technological innovation of companies, the world of research, sector professionals and international delegations that took part in the more than 200 conferences and workshops scheduled, also accessible online thanks to the GreentechInsights b2b platform.

The ARB team was present at the trade fair in the VIP LOUNGE together with our partner ICEA, with whom we organized a conference that sold out in the hall, entitled ‘𝘐𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘰 𝘥𝘪 𝘴𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵à 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘪 𝘶𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘢 𝘥𝘪 𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘰: 𝘥𝘢 ‘𝘚𝘐 𝘙𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨’ 𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘰 𝘥𝘪 𝘴𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵à.’

Participating speakers included our Founder and CEO, Ada Rosa Balzan, our Chief Digital & Marketing Officer, Ana Muruais, Mariano Serratore, ICEA Technical Director and Roberto Ragona, Senior Software Engineer at Canino SR srl.

In addition to being an active part of the conferences, we also witnessed many other verticals in addition to the eagerly awaited States General of the Green Economy. Minister for the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, who opened the event, recalled how Ecomondo is ‘a privileged observatory on the national economy. Here is the winning Italy of the ecological transition, aimed at decarbonization, efficiency, rational use of natural resources, and innovation’.

The National Council for the Green Economy has presented an action plan to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable Europe. Eight proposals, the result of a careful analysis of current challenges and opportunities, outline a clear roadmap for achieving the goals of the European Green Deal.

From energy efficiency measures to smart mobility; from the necessary growth of renewables to investments in the circular economy: from climate commitment to the protection of natural capital.

At these meetings, it emerged that the ecological transition is a necessary path and there is an awareness among companies that it may represent the greatest challenge of the coming decades, but the benefits of accelerating the climate transition outweigh the costs.

As we often remind our customers, sustainability rather than a critical issue is an opportunity for them to develop and strengthen their corporate positioning and reputation.

The inclusion of digital as a driver is also interesting. As our Chief Digital & Marketing Officer, Ana Muruais, explains, “it is a good sign to see that among the conferences there were some dedicated to the synergy between environment and digitalization. It was also crucial to take the opportunity to talk about the growing value of data protection and cybersecurity”.

It was extremely inspiring again this year to participate in Ecomondo and immerse ourselves in the Italian realities that are defining the foundations for a new economic model. In particular, the States General offered a unique opportunity to compare how nations are moving in the global scenario. China, once again, confirms itself as a leader in the energy transition, leading with large investments in clean energy, batteries, renewables and electrification. The United States and Europe follow at a distance, but with increasing commitment.
This competition will be crucial to successfully addressing the challenge of the climate crisis, which is now evident to all, and will determine who will lead this momentous shift over the next decade, characterized by a gradual reduction in the use of fossil fuels.
In this challenge, every individual, organization, government agency or company is called upon to play an active role, seizing the opportunities presented by this transition to help build a more sustainable future.

As one of our new colleagues, Stella Zanella, who covers the role of Administrative Assistant, explains, this edition of Ecomondo was truly exciting ‘For the first time I had the opportunity to participate in Ecomondo, one of the most important trade fairs in the field of sustainability and environmental innovation. It was exciting to immerse myself in the pavilions and discover stands that dealt with topics I have always been passionate about. To see projects, machinery and solutions designed for a sustainable future made me feel part of something bigger. This was also my first trade fair with the company, and I was excited to see how our work can develop in this area, meeting people, prospects, partners and customers. The experience gave me new energy, confirming how important it is to continue to cultivate this passion and look for new insights and inspiration.

We look forward to Ecomondo 2025, which will be held at the Italian Exhibition Group’s Rimini Trade Fair from 4 to 7 November 2025 with new projects, new partnerships and new ideas for reflection, inspiration, innovation and improvement.
